It stands for Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning.

It is a programme which draws upon the good practice of teachers and the quality of relationships in our school to affirm what is known a Emotional Literacy.

SEAL has been drawn from a variety of initiatives most notably:

• National Healthy Schools Standard.
• SEBS - The Social Emotional and Behavioural Strategy.

to enable the school to deliver on key components of the new Key Stage 3 Curriculum.

The SEAL skills revolve around 5 areas:

• Interpersonal skills
• Self management
• Motivation
• Empathy
• Self knowledge

Early projects have shown quantifiable benefits are to be gained in a range of areas:

• Improvements in learning
• Improvements in standards
• Improvements in attendance
• Improvements in behaviour
• Reduced exclusion rates
• Staff retention
